Eezy Freezy Market
Eezy Freezy Market, located near the western end of the Muni Railway
tunnel under Twin Peaks, has been there nearly forever. Somewhere
between a corner convenience store and a full-fledged supermarket, it
has plenty of charm, and always fresh produce. The neon sign is
green, and I don't know if S and W green stamps are any good anymore,
but I'm sure you'll always get them at Eezy Freezy.
Eezy Freezy is part of the "old" West Portal, harkening back to the
days of Toy Village, Woolworth's, and neighborhood pharmacies. Today,
West Portal is becoming another yuppie gulch, with Land Rover Disco's
in every third parking space, four coffee vendors (including
Peet's and Starbuck's), and a whole host of upscale restaurants.
