Doggie Diner

The last remaining Doggie Diner head.

Once upon a time, there was a local chain of hot dog stands, before the hamburger pulled a billgates. Like many, it was cleverly named after its product: The Doggie Diner. What made these different, however, was the remarkable three-dimensional logo each diner sported. It was the head of a perky dachshund, wearing a chef's hat.

Alas, Doggie Diner is no more, but one of the Doggie Diner heads still remains, at the renamed (and unrelated) Carousel diner across from the San Francisco Zoo. Certainly, the Zoo is an important local attraction, but most big cities have one. Nowhere but San Francisco, however, will you find a Doggie Diner head!
