Since then, associates have joined the company and moved on, but always the high standards of technical expertise and exemplary customer service have been maintained. Our core competencies have changed and grown, from the early days of Powerhouse programming and user support on the HP 3000, to our current menu of multi-language, multi-platform programming; web site design, development and maintenance; needs analysis and system design; and -- always -- user support.
Clients have included such well-known corporations as Aetna Health Plans and Hewlett-Packard, but we have also helped smaller businesses and individuals as well.
When it comes to software development and design, our philosophy is simple: Make it work, and spend some extra time so the users don't have to. If we can spend a few extra hours to save an end-user two minutes a day, we do so; the savings add up in the long run, and frees the user's time for more important tasks.
For web design, we concentrate on building sites that offer compelling content, rather than flashy glitz. Traditional entertainment media provides more than enough of the latter; our clients are generally interested in providing information to their current and potential customers. Our job is to develop a consistent, usable site that can deliver that information, while still maintaining a pleasing, professional appearance.
We believe strongly in supporting all levels of browser capabilities and user abilities. We include alternate text for all images, and keep images to a minimum, both to make our sites usable by the visually impaired and to reduce transmission times. We avoid site designs that require the latest HTML extensions, while implementing features that enhance the site for visitors with the latest browsers.
Our sites look good and do their job, whether the end-user has the newest version of Netscape and a T3 connection or is using Lynx over a 1200bps modem. There are a lot of teenagers putting up web sites with really neat animated graphics and lots of Java applets; we provide solid business solutions for the World Wide Web.
We are also proud to be active in supporting our community and the industry. Whether by providing computers and technical support to schools or archiving historic computers, we strive to be not only profitable but also productive.
We are working to preserve the history of the computer industry by supporting the work of the Computer History Association of California, as well as participating in the ClassicCmp mailing list. In addition, Roger Sinasohn has assembled an impressive -- but by no means complete -- collection of classic computers, focusing primarily on portables.
We also work with teachers at Garden Village Elementary School in Daly City to ensure that at-risk children receive exposure to computer technology. More importantly, however, we are helping to put computers to use as tools for teaching non-computer related skills such as reading, mathematics, and general science. The results have been, in some cases, simply amazing.
Roger Louis Sinasohn & Associates is very proud to sponsor the San Francisco Free List, a weekly listing of free events taking place in San Francisco. Targeted at seniors and low-income families, it serves as a clearing house for activities that are open to anyone, regardless of financial status.
