Sometimes chains can be undesirable, sheltering you from local
variations, but sometimes they can guarantee you a acceptable level of
cleanliness, comfort, and convenience. These chains have consistantly
provided above average rooms, service, and amenities. You can't go
wrong here.

The only downside to the Courtyard is the lack of local influences.
Best Showers anywhere; so good, I joined the Courtyard Club. Good
pools and hot tubs too.

A great find, with well appointed, clean rooms, nice pools and hot
tubs, and free (decent) continental breakfast. Similar to the
Courtyard, but showers aren't as good.

Independent hotels and hostels are oft times the best way to go.

hotel art. Very affordable too. Apparently frequented by tomato
experts.

The ultimate in luxury. The Broadmoor must be experienced to be
believed. If you grew up with solid gold rattles, it won't seem like
anything special, but for the rest of us normal folk, it's quite a
place. Definitely check out the Broadmoor Falls.

A great hostel in North Vancouver, close to the Sea Bus and the
Lonsdale Quay. Free pool table, but the front porch is the place to
be in the evening.

This property is owned by one of the concierges at San Francisco's Pan
Pacific hotel, and it shows. It's a beautiful home in a beautiful
location. Close to Guerneville, yet removed from the hubbub of
reality, it's the perfect spot for a romantic weekend away or for a
fun vacation with the kids. The outdoor hot tub is surrounded by
trees and is secluded enough for soaking au naturel, while the dual
barbeques, plentiful deck space, bountiful amenities make it perfect
for entertaining. It's managed by
